JD has more than 25 years of trading and marketing experience while managing businesses for top caliber firms on both the buy- and sell-side. During that time, he has developed a passion for building and scaling businesses and has been recognized for his ability to drive strategy and accelerate growth.
Before joining Meyler, JD founded JASP Capital Management, which focused on developing systematic, rule-based trading strategies. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Interlachen Capital Group, where he was responsible for Business and Strategy Development. It was his experience in these two roles that led him to recognize that generating momentum in asset gathering businesses is more dependent on how a firm positions and promotes itself in the marketplace than even the returns it delivers to investors.
JD began his career in 1990 as a proprietary options trader, risk manager, and research analyst for O’Connor and Associates. After O’Connor’s purchase by Swiss Bank Corporation, he spent time in Switzerland growing and managing the firm’s US Equity Derivative and Structured Products platform. He later joined Credit Suisse where he was Co-Manager of the firm’s Listed Derivatives and ETF Sales Trading Desk. He went on to successfully build and manage the firm’s U.S. Special Situations Desk prior to joining RBC Capital as a portfolio manager and trader in the firm’s proprietary trading group.
JD is FINRA Series 7 and 63 licensed (and previously held FINRA Series 3, 4, 10, 24, and 55 licenses). He received undergraduate degrees in Finance and Real Estate from Indiana University.
